Review platforms are websites on which customers, employees or testers rate companies and products: Trustpilot, Capterra, G2, Kununu, the Google Business Profile, testing institutes such as Stiftung Warentest. For AI systems, they are the preferred source for trust and reputation questions — "Is provider X good, what are people's experiences?" — because they deliver neutral information from third parties. At the SISTRIX Meetup in September 2026, Chrissy Kunisch (ONE Beyond Search) cited a roughly three times higher chance of being cited with presence on review platforms.

## How do review platforms affect AI answers?

Trust and reputation questions come immediately before the purchasing decision: the user has a brand in view and wants to validate it through neutral sources. The system therefore does not look for the brand's website but for reviews. A maintained profile on a cited platform gives the system name, description, average rating and individual voices — and with that, the passage it needs for the answer. If the profile is missing, the system answers the question with whatever else it finds, or not at all.

## Why do review platforms matter for AI visibility?

Because trust questions are among the most relevant in the [prompt set](https://www.codaai.ai/en/knowledge/geo-glossary/prompt-set/): anyone who fails to convince here has lost the user, even though the user was already looking at their brand. Review platforms are at the same time a source of [domain authority](https://www.codaai.ai/en/knowledge/geo-glossary/domain-authority/) and a [sentiment](https://www.codaai.ai/en/knowledge/geo-glossary/sentiment/) factor: they determine whether and how a brand is assessed when the AI mentions it.

## What does this mean for your website?

Determine which platforms AI systems cite for trust questions about your industry, and set up maintained profiles there — with the same brand description as everywhere else ([consistent brand description](https://www.codaai.ai/en/knowledge/geo-glossary/consistent-brand-description/)). Ask satisfied customers for current, specific reviews. Respond to critical voices factually; the response is read too. Bought or fake reviews are not a lever but a risk.
